Folder Password Protect is a simple yet effective utility designed to safeguard your sensitive data. With this app, you can easily password-protect any folder on your system, preventing unauthorized access or modifications. If someone attempts to open a protected folder, the app prompts them for a password to unlock it, ensuring your files remain safe.
Once you launch the application, you’ll find two primary functions: "lock" and "unlock." The process is straightforward: lock a folder by selecting the "lock" option, and unlock it simply by double-clicking on the folder. The trial version of Folder Password Protect has some limitations, such as restricting you to protect up to three folders with a maximum size of 50MB. Additionally, your password must be at least six characters long for added security.
During testing on Windows XP, the app performed reliably. I was able to password-protect a folder and couldn’t access it without entering the correct password. Even attempts to bypass the application through the command line were unsuccessful. While the security provided by this app may not be the most robust, it serves its purpose well for quick protection of your files.
