Active WebCam is a powerful webcam streaming app for Windows that lets you broadcast video from your main webcam or any compatible video device connected to your PC. After adding your preferred cameras, you can stream your feeds through multiple channels—via a Web server, an FTP upload, or its impressive built-in HTTP server. Once enabled, the app instantly launches a local server on port 8080 and automatically generates a clean viewing page that anyone can access by entering your computer’s IP address. Viewers can choose their preferred player, including Windows Media Player.
For broader compatibility, Active WebCam also includes a Java applet viewer, allowing near–real-time playback on almost any device. You can fine-tune frame rates to reduce bandwidth usage, balancing performance and efficiency—15fps is often ideal for smooth remote monitoring. With support for multiple input devices, you can host up to 1–8 simultaneous video streams on the same HTTP server, making it great for home security, remote monitoring, and professional multi-camera setups.
